Jakub Cigler Architekti (JCA) is an architectural studio, which started its activities in November 2001 in Prague, Czech Republic. Immediately from the beginning, JCA placed itself among the type of companies engaging in progressive architecture. The studio has won several awards for its work, both at home and abroad (including the International Design Award, Building of the Year Award or Dušan Jurkovič Award - the most important architectural prize given in Slovakia), and has been one of the founding members of the Association of the Czech Green Building Council. They have succeeded with their works and projects in architectural competitions and have been regularly presented in professional journals.

about us

JCA has a broad scope of design activities focusing on various types of architecture: residential and office buildings, as well as shopping centres and hotels; managing construction of new buildings and renovations. With each project it also deals with cultivating the public space and improving urbanism in the specific area. Their architecture is based on the well-arranged forms, on a continuing dialogue between the inner and outer space and on a significant transparency which brings a natural light into the interior. At the same time, each building is supplemented with the green space.

JCA has been intensively involved in the overall development of the project, from the volumetric studies, through the individual stages, including the construction permit process, until the actual implementation. In view of the fact that more than fifty-member team has an international cast, it can adapt to different principles and standards in individual countries, in which it operates.

Architecture within human commitment

Reflecting on the sustainability of worldwide architecture and the good quality design accessibility has brought jakub cigler architekti, a.s., to found unlimitedJCA, the new department of the studio. Considering that the architecture and the design itself are more than a drawing we say that if a design works, it promotes a development. The inspiring environment is the background for the progress. When the basic needs are fulfilled, people search for the motivation and further stimulus.

The globalization has brought indifference to sites, traditions, cultures and to people´s lives. Many designs ignore the climate and local particularities, which creates the worldwide energy problem. The architecture doesn’t have any common language, it shouldn’t be simplified. Each project should be considered individually with the respect to vernacular aspects. It brings us to :::

::: to assist to identify the SUSTAINABLE architectural principles

::: to assist to create friendly PUBLIC spaces for everybody

::: to raise the public AWARENESS about the public space, the architecture and the design

::: to INTERCONNECT cultural, academic and private sectors

::: to promote NEW technologies and ideas in the architectural design while RESPECTING  specificities of a community

::: to promote the architectural and the artistic EDUCATION and to support talents among architects and designers worldwide

::: to promote the PRESERVATION  of the international architectural and cultural HERITAGE

JCA employs many open-minded people with international working experience who are aware of today´s difficulties in the field of sustainability, public space, community and humanity. That´s why the section unlimited Jakub Cigler Architekti has been launched as the architecture within the human commitment… If you are interested in more up-to-date information, please feel free to visit the unlimited website.
